alternative fuel prices in North America
CNG price in North America in
One of the advantages of using public CNG filling stations in North America is the cost savings. The client does not need to install and maintain its own provider. On the other hand, a fleet with its own dispensing equipment may experience inconveniences if the dispenser is out of service, if there is a lot of demand and waiting time, or if there are other accessibility problems. On the other hand, some fleet managers negotiate a wholesale price for fuel when operating their own stations which makes CNG an even cheaper fuel, but cannot do so when using a public station.
The biggest trend in natural gas vehicles in North America is the adoption of this fuel in heavy vehicle fleets. Garbage trucks, in particular, have been popular applications for natural gas. These vehicles offer great savings possibilities if Compressed Natural Gas is used. A single garbage truck that travels 16,000 kilometers a year, for example, could save up to 15,000 euros. Garbage trucks also return to a central location each night, making it an ideal do-it-yourself activity. Public and private garbage fleets have switched to natural gas for some or all of their vehicles.
Renewable natural gas, also called biogas, is obtained from the decomposition of organic matter. Wastewater treatment, solid waste, and agricultural facilities produce this gas as a by-product during their normal operation. For this gas to be used as fuel for vehicles, it must first be purified and then distributed and can be used in vehicles, so being a fuel that further reduces emissions is a perfect alternative for cleaner mobility for what is being strongly promoted its use 37
Biogas is also an economic advantage since its production is more competitive than that of traditional fuels and BioCNG can be marketed at an even cheaper price.
