The history of the creation of automobile gas compressor stations (AGNKS in Ukraine) begins in the 1930s of the last century. For the first time, the concept of the development of the AGNCS network appeared in Italy and spread throughout the world. Today, around 10 million compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicles are in use around the world. Around 9,000 AGNKS have been built in various countries. The global market for natural gas, which is used as motor fuel, was formed in the first half of the 20th century, uniting separate national and regional markets.

In Europe in 2014, 1.8 million cars ran on methane; Almost 4,700 AGNKS were built with a consumption of 3,670 million cubic meters of natural gas. The average price of natural gas for transportation at that time was 43...47% lower than the price of diesel fuel and gasoline per cubic meter. According to the latest available data, the world consumption of natural gas for transport will reach 75,000 million cubic meters per year, excluding the volumes of gas for the supply of water transport vessels.

For Ukraine, the solution of the problem of the use of natural gas as motor fuel is of particular importance, since it will allow to significantly reduce its dependence on the import of oil and derivative products and radically improve the environmental situation complicated by the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster. . For this, Ukraine has all the necessary prerequisites, such as its own natural gas resources, which far exceed oil reserves; a developed network of AGNKS (90 stations throughout Ukraine with a total capacity of 687.5 million cubic meters), which guarantees the passage of motor vehicles with compressed natural gas to any point of the country, flow production of steel cylinders high-pressure and series production from AGNKS; and world-class scientific and technical developments on the problems of the use of gas in transport by the institutes of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

Of course the fact that CNG is cheaper than traditional fuels in Ukraine is a great advantage and motivation for the use of this alternative fuel.
