CNG lorries for sale
With the rising price of gasoline, it's no wonder that many drivers are equipping their trucks with compressed natural gas tanks. Not only are they saving money, but they are also helping the environment. These trucks are becoming cost-effective and they're not just there to be clean and green. They are also reducing their carbon footprint!
Not only do you get tax incentives and government rebates, sometimes CNG can save up to 50% compared to gasoline. Alternative fuel vehicles provide great performance, sustained mobility and reduced emissions.
Many trucking operators are striving to reduce their environmental footprint and lower fuel costs. These trucks are available for everything from waste collection and delivery transport to long-haul trucking, and run on CNG, produced from either natural gas or biogas, depending on availability. With the potential to reduce CO2 footprint by 20%, gas-powered trucks enable a smooth transition to more environmentally sustainable transportation.
CNG is natural gas or biogas compressed at high pressure and stored in tanks in the truck. CNG-powered trucks offer enough power, torque and range to handle the demanding transportation of waste delivery and collection. By using compressed biogas, CO2 emissions are reduced by up to 70%.
The number of fleets adopting natural gas is on the rise, with the U.S. Department of Energy's Energy Information Administration reporting that non-petroleum fuel use is at its highest levels since the mid-1950s. In the 1950s, coal-fired steam locomotives were the primary user of non-petroleum fuels. Since then, non-petroleum fuel use has remained at around four percent. In 2014, it reached 8.5 percent due to increased use of natural gas, ethanol and biodiesel.
