The number of gas stations that offer HVO in Austria has increased rapidly since the beginning of its commercialization in the country and there are already many service stations that sell this renewable fuel
Although it is still a fuel supported by the Government of Austria at the same level as other alternative fuels, the need to reduce emissions is forcing politicians to consider supporting biofuels and combustion engines as viable.

HVO diesel at more and more gas stations. Fuel made from used oil and food waste is increasingly available at more gas stations in Salzburg. HVO diesel has become known thanks, among other things, to a pilot project with snow plows in Lungau. However, now all cars can be refueled with it. According to experts, concerns about engine damage are unfounded.
Drivers are often skeptical about the possibility of refueling with the old vegetable fat, but experts say that this is completely unfounded. With the exception of classic cars, in principle any diesel vehicle can be refueled with HVO diesel, according to automobile clubs. HVO diesel is sold as the green fuel par excellence, which will supposedly solve at least some of today's climate concerns.
