Maruti Suzuki, the leading carmaker in India, is ready to introduce new vehicles in 2018 from the third generation of Swift to the 2018 Auto Expo in February. ETAuto reports that in addition to the new Swift, Maruti Suzuki will also present two completely new models in the country.
The year 2018 will begin with the launch of the new Swift in February, followed by the brand new WagonR and Ertiga MPV. All three models were the best-sellers in the respective segment and the new iterations will give the company the necessary boost. So here are the details of the three new Maruti Suzuki cars that will be launched in 2018.
Third generation Swift The new 2018 Swift will feature a completely new design and will be based on the new lighter HEARTECT platform, which also supports the new Dzire and Baleno. The new platform uses lightweight, high-strength steel that will enhance the sedan's driving dynamics.
The new generation Maruti Swift will continue to draw energy from the existing 1.2-liter petrol and 1.3-liter diesel engine that produces 82bhp and 74bhp respectively. Both engines will be combined with the 5-speed manual transmission. Maruti Suzuki will also be offering the AMT transmission.
2018 WagonR Maruti Suzuki will upgrade the WagonR with an all-new model in 2018. The new 2018 WagonR will feature a renewed exterior design while retaining its high-end position. It is likely that the new iteration of the WagonR draws energy from the same 1-liter petrol engine that is on the current model.
Transmission options on the new WagonR will include a 5-speed manual transmission and AMT. Maruti Suzuki could also offer both LPG and CNG options on dual-fuel variants. Expect the new WagonR to hit Indian roads by the end of 2018.
Ertiga Facelift In 2018, Maruti Suzuki will also update the Ertiga MPV with new design and mechanical components. The same HEARTECT platform will support the 2018 Ertiga. Maruti has already started testing the restored Ertiga on Indian roads, and it should be slightly larger than the model currently sold.
The new Ertiga 2018 is likely to draw power from a 1.5-liter petrol and a 1.4-liter turbocharged diesel engine. Both engines should be coupled to a manual or AMT gearbox. Expect the seven-seater MPV to get updates even inside with new features.
In 2018, Maruti Suzuki is ready to renew its product portfolio in India by introducing new models. The new Swift generation is one of the most anticipated cars in India, which will be launched at the Auto 2018 show in February. The other two models, the new WagonR and Ertiga will be launched at a later stage.
